The Model 187 series is one of the most iconic utility rimfire rifles of the mid-20th century. Nicknamed “gill guns” due to the distinctive air vents on the left side of the receiver, these rifles are famous for their unique firing mechanism. When firing .22 Long Rifle high-velocity ammunition, the bolt stays back briefly until the trigger is released, producing a distinct “clack-clack” sound and action feel. Additionally, pushing the charging handle inward locks the action, allowing you to manually cycle .22 Short and .22 Long cartridges safely.
